Lytham Carnival

Hi Room 9,

Last weekend I went to the Lytham Carnival and saw lots of interesting people.
I met a lovely dog called Pippa, a policeman, a police horse and watched the parade go past.
I then went and visited a mobile police station but there were no naughty people inside and I sat inside a replica Spitfire plane. I learnt a lot about the Spitfire plane that was famous in the second world war. Have a look on the internet about them.
It is now very hot and almost 30 deg so I are not sleeping very well in Astons dads spare room.
Enjoy the cold!!!!

Crocodiles, Billabongs, Eagles & Swimming

Dear Kodi, Nick & Room 9,

I am sending you 4 pictures.

010.jpg

I have been doing a lot of interesting things since I last wrote.

Crocodiles are a real problem where we are holidaying and you can'tswim in a lot of the rivers or the ocean, but we did swim at thebottom of the little waterfall in picture 007 because the crocodileshad been trapped and taken away to another billabong. A billabong is an Australian name for a pond or waterhole.

The crocodile in picture 001 is only a pretend one but I was still a bit scared.

We went to a show and saw this big Wedgetail eagle, picture 003. Whenthey fly their wingspan can be up to 2.5 to 3 metres.

I keep my clothes on most of the time because I don't want to get sunburnt and also because there are a lot of mosquitos that bite and makeyou itchy.

We have been doing lots of swimming , do you like the picture of me inthe pandanus bush with the reflection in the water.

Until my next letter I hope you are all well and I will continue to have a good time in Australia.

Love to all

Bangkok & Thailand

Hi,
Has been a busy week again, decided I would get on a plane, instead of in an envelope, and have a holiday!
Firstly I did some life saving at an Australian Beach, then straight to airport for my trip, I made friends with the pilot and air hostess and had my photo taken with them, and they took me up to the flight deck! And then I arrived in Bangkok.... So took a photo of the beautiful gardens at the airport, and met a friend of mine, so we decided to have some fun and travel to an island in Thailand.
I will send you more photos soon!!
Having a great time, hope you are having fun,see you soon

Mount Savage, Maryland, USA

Dear Cody and Juliette,

I am sending you a wee note to let you know that I have arrived safely at Justin Scobies house in Mount Savage, Maryland U.S.A. I had a nice trip here and got to meet lots of other people along the way. During my long flight over here I got very cold so I managed to squeeze myself in between to big brown envelopes and they kept me warm until I arrived here in Maryland, very thoughtful of them to keep me warm. Today I haven't done anything as I have been sleeping as my journey from New Zealand to Los Angeles was 14 hours long and them I had to wait with all of the other packages and people to be sent onto Dulles in Washington DC, after all of this flying I then had to encounter a long 4 hour drive to Justin's house so this is why I'm sleeping quite a bit today. The weather here is much warmer than back home in Tauranga it is 30 degrees Celsius today and the sun is shining bright. Justin has a dog named Doug, as soon as I was welcomed into their home Doug wouldn't stop sniffing me, he tickled me quite a bit with his wet nose and his whiskers and then he wondered off and layed down, maybe he recognised my Black Caps uniform and my tiki because he too is from New Zealand. He flew all the way here just like me. Oh well I will write again soon. Take care my friends see you soon.

From Flat Stanley ka ke te

Melbourne, Australia

First off:
BIG HI FROM AUNTY KATE AND ISOBEL IN MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA!

Secondly:
Thanks for sending us your New Zealand Flat Stanley! He arrived here safely about two weeks ago, though i'm sure the trip was tiring because he had to have a big rest once he got here. Sorry about the late email update! We have ALL been busy!We have taken Stanley with us around the neighbourhood and on small trips to show him the delights of Melbourne. Although this has proven difficult upon some occasions due to Flat Stanley being flat, i'm sure he had fun! Unfortunately we haven't been able to upload any pictures yet but they are on their way! We promise!Plus there are still heaps of things we need to do with him and plenty more pictures we need to take!

Love from Melbourne and we will get back to you soon, Kate, Isobel and of course, Flat Stanley

Lytham, England

Dear Aston & Kade,

After a long journey of 11,000 miles through Hong Kong I finally arrived at Lytham, England.
Astons dad Bruce unwrapped me and today took me to see his work place.
We have had a few photos taken showing me on his computer then into a stainless steel factory where his men make all sorts of products.
You can see me driving a forklift, operating a steel punching machine and sneaking through a rolling plant where they make nice flooring that is sold all over the world.
I might be going to Blackpool which is near Bruce’s house is next weekend to go on a huge roller coaster called the Big One. That will be fun.
Next Saturday is also ‘Club Day’ in Lytham when all clubs, schools and fun groups parade through the streets and then have a big party in the town. I will get a ride on the Fylde rugby Club float to see all the people.
Will send you more photos next week and tell you all about it.

Bye for now.

Your Flat Stanley

Wollongong & Darwin

Dear Kodi & Nick

I have at last arrived at my destination with Nana Lyn and Uncle Ian.

The flight from Tauranga to Sydney was very long, 2151 kilometres. If you have been on an aeroplane you will know that there is a pocket for you to put your book in, or a magazine beside the travel sick bag. This is where I travelled and was quite confortable except they forgot to feed me because I was out of sight, fortunately no-one needed to use the travel sick bag!

After I arrived in Sydney I travelled 80 kilometres to Wollongong where they put me in a little Post Office Box. Thank goodness Kodi's cousins Brayden and Maddison rescued me and put ne on another plane, this time to Darwin, 4215 kilometres from Wollongong and now at last I with nana Lyn and Uncle Ian.

It is very hot here because although it is winter it is a long way up north in the tropics and every day the temperature is about 32 degrees. I get very hot because my clothes have long sleeves and pants.

Soon I will write you another letter.

Love

Flat Stanley

ps I have attached some photos of a kangaroo I saw and the caravan I am travelling around in.

Canada

Dear Samantha, Laura and Jackson,

I just wanted to let you all know that Flat Stanley has arrived in Canada, safe and sound, although perhaps a little bit flatter than when you first sent him. I found him in the letterbox lying under a rather large pile of mail. However, I'm guessing this is a good thing for a boy such as Stanley. He can now slide under even lower doors.

Anyway, once Stanley had a chance to stretch his limbs, he did seem to be in very good spirits. As soon as he popped out of his envelope, he introduced himself to everyone in the family, and then your baby cousin, Reed, took him for a ride around the neighbourhood in his little orange car.

Along the way Stanley made friends with many of the neighbours, including an eight year old girl called Cassie, who was very excited to have her photo taken with a Flat Stanley. Especially a Flat Stanley who had been sent from the other side of the world by three New Zealand eight year olds.

I have included a photo of Cassie with this email.

So, as you can see, your Flat Stanley has arrived safe and sound and he is ready to experience life in Canada. I will send more news of his adventures, very soon.

Take care,
Love Aunty Alana

Phuket Island

Hi!!
I'm nearly on my way home, here's my latest pics!!
When I arrived at Phuket Island, I had my photo taken in front of this gold statue, so many amazing gold statues in Thailand.
I went to where the Tsunami was in 2004, such a strange feeling, they have built up all the area beautifully, but there are still palm trees with no palms on top, quite hard to get my head around a wave that big and that wide!
I had my photo taken in front of this weird tree, I was hoping you could do some research on what kind of tree it is? It seemed to have base branch roots not in the ground?!
Everywhere you go there are the signs I'm standing under, Funny aye!!
And then I relaxed by the beach and pool with my cool friend Kate!

Will be home soon, I'm a bit more tanned than you last saw me!!
Have a great holiday!
